Weight Loss Tip: Forgiveness & Humility

What happens when you dont forgive, hold a grudge, get angry, disgusted or just plain stay mad at someone?

You hold onto baggage! Plain and simple you are weighted down!

Case in point I just blasted at my children the other day. I was so upset at them for waiting until Sunday night at 8:15pm to tell me they had homework to do. I was furious they had the whole entire weekend to complete their homework. I just reacted by yelling at them. Then, I heard my child utter under his breath a bad word and then he eventually called me the devil.

My top just blew then I was steaming. And ya know what, I have to admit, I was overacting lets face it, I wasnt exactly acting like an angel I MESSED UP by just taking it too far.

Should my children know that they should have done their homework earlier, should they be taught a lesson YES, by all means But, I could have given the lesson without all the yelling, screaming and inviting my son to leave the house if he did not like the rules .. (Yes, I went there and no, I am not proud of it).

Some of you may be saying ah that wasnt that bad I would have done the same thing. Well, in my heart, I knew I was wrong I started to feel guilt, and I was upset at myself for losing my cool. This is where the issues start!

What did I choose? I chose to humble myself and ask for forgiveness?

Hebrews 12:15 says See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. If I would have just acted like nothing happened, I believe bitter roots would have started to grow in me and my children. The only reason I was thinking of not forgiving was because of Pride ah, they were wrong trying to justify my sin! Thats wrong too.

I took Colossians 3:13 to heart I asked for forgiveness! I put away my selfish, self-seeking ways and told them how wrong I was and let them know I will do better.

In return, they felt free to say they were sorry. My son did not say sorry till later that evening. But, we reconciled.

And guess what, because I cleaned that slate, I felt so light on my feet that whole day, I had a great work out, and I had no desire to overindulge in foods to mask my hurt!

Does this sound familiar? Do you have some forgiving to do? Is it causing you to overeat and treat your body terribly? It all starts with Christ to be humble enough to forgive! Try it let us know how it goes!
